Sutter North Hospice has provided quality, compassionate care and support to patients and their families since 2002. Our philosophy encompasses the belief that it is important to offer choices to each individual and to honor their wishes. It takes many dedicated individuals to make this happen. A crucial part of this team is the hospice volunteer.
While hospice care is provided by a physician-directed team of nurses, social workers, aides, chaplains, dieticians, therapists, and bereavement specialists; a vital role is played by the hospice volunteer who compassionately gives of their time to support the patient and the patient’s family. The hospice volunteer plays a variety of important roles in the delivery of care. They may relieve a caregiver, run errands, listen, provide emotional encouragement, hold a hand, or just sit quietly. Most important, a big part of the volunteer’s effort is simply befriending the patient and family.
We understand that the hospice volunteer is a special person and would like your help in recognizing their dedication. Please take time to thank a hospice volunteer that supported your family this last year by nominating him or her as Hospice Volunteer of the Year.
